Career and Employment Security |
Job security is an important component of job quality. We present two indicators relating to the dimension of career and employment security. The first is the incidence of involuntary part-time work as a percentage of part-time employment. Involuntary part-time employment is important as it reflects an inability of workers to find a full-time job. The second indicator is a measure of the incidence of temporary employment (the percentage of all workers who are temporary employees). Permanent jobs, in addition to being more stable, tend on average to be better-paying than temporary jobs. |
