Career and Employment Security

Job security is an important component of job quality.

We present two indicators relating to the dimension of career and employment security. The first is the incidence of involuntary part-time work as a percentage of part-time employment. Involuntary part-time employment is important as it reflects an inability of workers to find a full-time job. 

The second indicator is a measure of the incidence of temporary employment (the percentage of all workers who are temporary employees). Permanent jobs, in addition to being more stable, tend on average to be better-paying than temporary jobs.
